Phone Booth Library In England Is Smallest Library In The World
Towns people in a village in Somerset, England, now have a new library -a classic red phone booth. The bright red old phone booth was purchased for just 1 pound and remodeled as the smallest library in the world. It’s more of a location for swapping books than an official library – there are no late fees, and no room for a librarian. But there is enough space to store about 100 books and DVDs, which people are free to take and return at their leisure.Residents line up to swap their already read books for new ones left by other patrons.
It is completely full at the moment with books. Anyone is free to come and take a book and leave one that you have already read. This facility has turned a piece of street furniture into a community service in constant use.
While 100 books makes for a rather small collection, it seems to be enough for Westbury-sub-Mendip, which boasts a population of 800.
