Man Pronounced Dead Wakes Up In Coffin
The doctor who found Jozef Guzy collapsed by his hives thought he had suffered a heart attack and declared him dead.
The doctor pulled a sheet over him and three hours later the funeral directors pulled up and put him in a coffin and closed the lid. The coffin was taken to the undertakers’ store. And it was there that Jozef woke up…
Undertaker Darius Charon said: “He was shouting and banging on the lid and made enough noise to raise the dead. I touched his neck and felt a pulse.
The 76-year-old was taken to hospital in Katowice, Poland, and released after checks. Now the doctor who certified him dead has apologised.
An ambulance spokesman said: “When we got there he wasn’t breath-ing, there was no heartbeat and the body had cooled.”
Jozef said: “That undertaker saved my life. The first thing I did when I got out of hospital was take him round a nice jar of honey.”
